MEET THE FABULOUS NIYOLA

Eniola Akinbo , professionally known by her stage name Niyola, is a Nigerian recording artist,singer, songwriter and performer.

She got motivated to do music at the age of 8 after attending the concert of Funmi Adams with her dad who actually discovered her singing talent. In 2000, Niyola emerged runner-up at Starlet competition, an AMEN Awards pre-show.

Niyola came into spotlight after getting signed to EME records in 2012 with release a couple songs like “Don’t Delay Me”,‘Don’t Go There' and others , and became a bigger star in 2013 after the release of her hit single "Toh Bad".

ARNOLDEN has shot a viral video for his single titled "S'ADE. The video which was shot at locations in Lagos has footages of two love birds displaying so much affections.

Being the wife of a Yoruba guy, especially one who cares about the culture and fashion of his homeland gives me ample opportunities to try new things out.

Every time my husband visits Nigeria I am sure that my wonderful mother in law would send some newly made traditional design, fabrics and jewellery. My latest collection is exquisite and I am becoming bolder with matching them with my western outfits. I love to try new things out, so instead of leaving my Aso Oke to gather dust, I draped it over my lovely red dress for Easter Sunday and voila. What do you think?

LETTER TO MY MOTHER IN LAW

Dear mummy,

I know that you used to think when your son introduces his wife it will be a very exciting time. However, When you found out the wife is not Nigerian it might have been a little daunting .

I totally understand that cultural expectations can make it difficult for an African lady to accept a European daughter in law. I understand that you got worried that your son won't be taken care of because not all European wives are keen on carrying out domestic duties.

I thought it is time to write a few encouraging words to you, my dear mummy in law.

Please I want you to know that I love you loads and I won't take your son away neither your grandchildren. I love your African culture and even try to learn your language... (Please help me with this one.)

Thank you for taking care of my children in Nigeria at the moment and that you accept me even though I wasn't born in Nigeria. God bless you real good.

We women are so funny sometimes, we know that we are blessed and beautiful, still we want to change our appearance all the time. If your hair is curly we get a straightener, when we have gorgeous black hair we want to go blond.

I am not different as well. I have dark brown hair and ever since I was 10 years old, I’ve wanted to be blonde. Kind of a weird thing for a 10-year-old girl to obsess over, right? But obsess I did!

My blonding experiments haven't always run smoothly, however. A couple of years ago, after a nasty accident with some "beachy" salon highlights the day before an important event—"zebra" doesn’t even begin to describe them. Long story short. I decided NEVER AGAIN.

It took me a while to finally find a professional who will make sure to get the desired colour while my hair stays healthy and beautiful. First I was skeptical as the lady has a lot of African clients but looking the beautiful hair creations she has produced I have given it a go.

USE THIS LITTLE NIGERIAN WEIGHT LOSS TRICK TO STAY SLIM FOREVER

If you are anything like me you could get depressed when you don't "look good / slim enough" in the mirror.

Having 2 children I could beat myself up even after a few weeks of giving birth ignoring the fact that I have just produced a human being, carried the baby for 9 months etc.

I personally always get scared when I put on weight because someone once told me "make sure you stay slim for your husband...don't forget he married someone in size 10...he probably don't want a wife in size 20 "

This statement will always stay in my head because I really agree with it. But I love food though as much as my husband :)

Sorry to say but It also didn't help that my husband introduced me to the Nigerian cuisine because -even though I love all Nigerian dishes- it is full of carbohydrate and calories.

I have also tried working out more than I ate which did work while I was on maternity leave. But then I had to go back to work and I had very limited free time.

Today I don't want to give too much away from my health regime as I believe we all just need baby steps to start.

I think THE MOST IMPORTANT NIGERIAN WEIGHT LOSS TRICK TO STAY SLIM FOREVER is:

Whenever you eat something, make sure you eat at the right time!

This is simply because the same food in different times of the day can create different results. For example eating pounded yam and egusi at 12 noon will have a different result on your body than eating it at 11:00pm. That's because in the evening most of us don't have to go to work or run after kids anymore.

I had to introduce a "cut of time" in my diet which means after this hour I would not eat carbohydrate (bread, pasta, rice, potato etc.)...Depending on your lifestyle this cut of time should be 6-7 hours before going to bed.

Try this one little trick today and stay in shape forever. God bless.
